Being married in Hungary
Only the civil ceremony marries you. A religious ceremony carries no legal effect on its own — it is not paperwork behind the real wedding, it is a separate thing you also arrange.
0 days
You cannot marry until 30 days after declaring your intent to the registrar. That is a deadline rather than a target: later is not inconvenient, it is a ceremony that cannot legally take place.
What the registrar will want
- 01 Birth certificate for each of you
- 02 Valid photo ID or passport for each of you
- 03 Hungarian address card, if you have one
- 04 A certificate of no impediment to marriage, if either of you is not Hungarian — issued by your own country
- 05 Certified Hungarian translations, and an apostille, for documents issued abroad
